The entire lyrics express Tom knew what was going on. Personally, and unfortunately i never appreciated the words as a clueless, brainwashed teenager. It was always the guitar riffs. Thx for sharing. Here’s the lyrics;

Lunatic fringe

I know you're out there

You're in hiding

And you hold your meetings

I can hear you coming

I know what you're after

We're wise to you this time (wise to you this time)

We won't let you kill the laughter

Lunatic fringe

In the twilight's last gleaming

But this is open season

But you won't get too far

'Cause you've got to blame someone

For your own confusion

We're on guard this time (on guard this time)

Against your final solution

We can hear you coming (we can hear you coming)

No, you're not going to win this time (not gonna win)

We can hear the footsteps (we can hear the footsteps)

Hey, out along the walkway (out along the walkway)

Lunatic fringe

We all know you're out there

Can you feel the resistance

Can you feel the thunder

Sounds like the fringe is being pursued here. Lambs to the slaughter....

Seemed select individual musicians knew more about reality than their audience. Pretty amazing considering most of them were teenagers being manipulated by the industry they were employed by. Thx for responding.

I love this. It’s so interesting to me that people understand that there are many scripture passages for which we can’t 100% pinpoint the exact meaning (such as the precise timing of the return of Christ). But for others, people won’t even look at possibilities of meaning. The nephilim is an example. Ok, i don’t KNOW exactly who they were, but i do know that burying my head in the sand and ignoring the passages doesn’t help. Why not at least consider the theories that attempt to explain? Especially when the teachers use “sola scriptura” as their premise? I am uncomfortable giving the Apocrypha equal weight to canonized Scripture. But, “forewarned is forearmed”. I AM comfortable saying, “hmmm—plausible; I’ll stay alert and watch”, without going all out for screaming about demons (which the Bible definitely says exist, and are a reasonable possibility as an explanation for the passages about the nephilim). Being alert is a biblical mandate. Same for the Rapture—i HOPE it’ll happen pre-trib, but it’s God’s story to write, and no matter what, I’ll cling to the hope of Christ. He is worthy of our trust, whenever He decides to come back. Thanks for your work on this topic!

The moment the Lord called me to Him, He brought me to Genesis. I was a new believer riding high on those first elated feelings of weightlessness. Every. Word. In. Genesis. Those words were weighted with Truth, rich in meaning, prophetic in scope, foundational to the, wwwaallll shall I use the word....fantastical! I never thought, i never knew to NOT believe them. This is GOD for goodness sake. From the beginning I was hooked on giants, our fathers in the faith, angels, Melchizadek (sp), all of it! Because i knew no controversies over God's Word, the Lord let me get entrenched in those wonderous fantastical words. I think I was "fringe" from the get go of salvation. 30 years later?!?! I still LOVE researching all these fantastical things. Praise God!!!

Do you recommend reading the non-canonical scripture? I feel as though it fills in a lot of blanks…

The Bible mentions the Nephilim are mentioned more than once or their descendants that somehow survived the flood. The giants? Which are mentioned in scripture but not ever brought up except as a source of ridicule on those who dare to suggest that they existed. Tom Cochran is likely more famous for his song Big League. Which he released again as a single in support of the Humboldt Broncos hockey team after that devastating bus crash.
