I love this. I really do. His coming into the world was a nasty situation much like the situations we often find ourselves in. And when you mentioned the idea of pride I couldn't help but wonder....Did Sodom and Gomorrah have a "Pride Month"?
😭 I could never hate Jesus! He’s done so much he died for me for the shame that I was for the filth that I was he changed me and made me a new creature. I could never hate him and when I give up something that cost me I just want him to pull me closer to himself. That’s what I want. I want to be so entrenched in Holy Spirit and Jesus that I don’t even see myself anymore.
YES I love this kind of writing! My sister and I used to call it "burning loose" when we wrote together (a deliberate mistranslation of *brand los*, but one that gets the point across!)
I ALSO love writing that exaults what is beautiful and the ephemeral, but seeing this kind of writing - that lets blood smell of iron and fear and pain and knows that people pee when they die - done well in the context where it needs to be done.. where too many people want to sanitise and hide because they're happy to eat the flesh and blood but too cowardly to think about where it came from, is masterful and brings us back to a truth that needs to be acknowledged
“He was never clean. He was covered in us.” Yes. To the ends of time…Yes! Isaiah 43: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you. I have summoned you by name; you are Mine.
True, they did at the time, both Jews and Romans. He had 2 allies at the cross (John the Beloved and Mary, His mother) and one belated one on a cross beside Him. But two who would be seen as most unlikely come to ensure His body wasn't just tossed aside. Two Sanhedrin members, Nicodemus and Joseph show up to ensure this King gets a proper burial (and gets a royal one at that, with Joseph providing the tomb (his own!) and spices fit for a king's burial provided by one or both of them. (Radical fulfillment of Isaiah 53!) - And Jews are beginning to recognize Jesus in this passage! (Highway 53 and So Be It are two channels that show it happen in real time!)
Reality is not always kind! Our Salvation came at a terrible cost for the Most High and we esteemed Him not. Isaiah said it best. Thank you for sharing this with us and the Good Lord Bless you and your family! 💕💯❤️😻

Probably had a whole season. Pride always throws a parade right before the fire falls.
If that is not graphic enough, I don't know what is. How can we not be on our knees all day in repentance and praise!
🙏
Right there with you. The cross ought to ruin us before it heals us.
Yes! (Isaiah 6: 8 (I am undone - with no integrity

That line about not seeing yourself anymore. That's the whole thing right there.

Burning loose. That phrase is going to live in my head. You named exactly what too many writers won't touch, the flesh costs something.
“He was never clean. He was covered in us.” Yes. To the ends of time…Yes! Isaiah 43: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you. I have summoned you by name; you are Mine.
That verse hits different when you've actually needed redeeming. He came down into the mess and called us by name anyway.
"He was never clean.
He was covered in us."
Yes, we are nothing but filthy rags.
Filthy rags soaked through. And He still picked them up off the floor.
